CYCLING NEWS

BERMUDA CENTURY

We're still working on the details of this fundraiser and will try to get the details of the route and start times out by the end of the week.  The short version is we'll revert to the 25 mile loop and you can do as many as you wish.  If you think that the full 100 is going to be yours this year then you should be getting to know your saddle as well as possible now!

2009 MEMBERSHIP

Time to renew your membership for 2009.  Fees are remaining at a modest $20 per individual adult or $10 for juniors.  Family membership  (includes all household members) is merely $30.  If you became a member as part of a bike purchase in 2008 then the free ride is over.  The form can be downloaded here or you can get one at Winners Edge, Sportseller or Bicycle Works where completed forms can be put in the BBA drop boxes.

TOKIO YOUTH SERIES FINALE THIS SATURDAY

The last of the Tokio Youth Series events will be held this Saturday at the Arboretum starting at 4:00PM.  Bring out those primary school students so that they can experience the fun of riding.  If you can't find a child to bring then please come along and help out.  Snacks, coffee, hot chocolate and all the thrills and spills of the Tour de France without having to fly all the way to Paris!

Picture of the week

Last week Sheila Ruse landed in this patch of prickly pear cactus when she was run off South Road by some idiotic truck driver.  The good news is that after removing literally dozens (if not hundreds) of thorns she is ok.  The bad news is that she didn't get a license plate or name on the truck so we can't boycott the business. Maybe it's time to start making some noise about these drivers?

If you want to submit a picture or two for the next newsletter then please forward the image to newsletter@bermudabicycle.org.

If you have received this e-mail in error or no longer wish to be on the distribution list, please contact us and we'll make sure you are removed. Also, if there is a preferred email you wish to use to stay in contact with you then please let us know.  Feel free to distribute this newsletter to friends, family and anyone interested in cycling or Bermuda.

We would be glad to publish your cycling news, whether it be bike for sale or your latest event results.  Send all things cycling to us and we'll include it in the next issue.
