RACING MATTERS

POINTS SERIES RACE THIS SUNDAY, EARLY START

For the first time ever we are racing around Victoria Park in Hamilton!  Thanks (we think) to Jeff Amaral for twisting a few arms at CoH to allow us to have this great course. Race Directors are Jason Piney, Garth Thomson & Carlos DeSilva.

NOTE: Racing starts at 8:00AM sharp for the Junior B (20 minutes +1 lap) and Junior C (10 minutes + 1 lap) categories.  Next will be the Junior A, Male B and Female B (all 30 minutes + 1 lap) races (approximately 8:20AM) and then Male A and Female A (both 45 minutes + 1 lap) race, no later than 9:00AM.  The start/finish is on Dundonald St.  Start heading west and turn left after "10" and then left on Park Road, right on what ever that road is going towards City Hall, left on Victoria, left on Cedar and left on Dundonald.  Do this many times.  Junior B and Junior C will just do the Victoria Park loop.  Many times.

SINCLAIR PACKWOOD MEMORIAL RACE

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

As always, there is a limit of 60 riders for this prestigious  race and if you want to be a part of it then make sure you meet the standard.

First, the race is open only to those who are BBA members.

Second, you must be racing in any of the adult categories or Junior A.

Third, you must have finished 2 of the 2009 road race series races.  The Tuesday training crits do not count towards the number of races.

If we have open spots after taking all those who have met the three criteria andwant to ride the race directors (BBA Executive Committee) will offer spots to others who express an interest in racing the event at their discretion.  If you want to enjoy the thrill of this event and don't want to be subject to the whims of 5 grumpy guys then get racing.  Events remaining that will get you qualified are this Sunday (April 26) and a road race on May17th.

STUFF FOR SALE OR OTHER

Given the number of people racing it is not surprising to find that there are no bikes left to sell!

Picture of the week

There were 45 racers last evening at Morgan's Point, including about a dozen teens.  The Junior A race was won by Mark Herman, in the middle below in blue shoes, who bested Dominique Mayho and Mark Godfrey in the final sprint.  Not a bad job for a first race and wearing sneakers and pedal straps!   Hey, Ken, check out that international exposure for the clinic!
