BUTTERFIELD TO SPONSOR BERMUDA GRAND PRIX

Registration for the 2009 Butterfield Bermuda Grand Prix is now open and will be done online. Click on the link below and you will be taken to the BikeReg.com site. If this is your first time using BikeReg you will need to set up an account, a very easy process.
Categories for the race will be the same as last year and the adult categories look like the BBA categories. But be warned, if you are a struggling BBA Male A then you should consider riding Male B in this event as Male A will include riders from overseas who are closer to the top end of our local racing.

BTA TRAINING RACE, OLYMPIC DISTANCE

Last week it was suggested that there was to be a training triathlon but I got the date wrong. It is scheduled for Saturday, August 22 (this Saturday). If you are looking for a demo-triathlon then consider the BTA's olympic distance training race this weekend. The race starts at 7:00AM at Clearwater Beach and there is a $10 entry fee. For more details see the BTA's website www.bta.bm.
SJA FIRST AID COURSE GRADUATES

Nine BBA members completed the St. John's Ambulance emergency first aid course in July. This program was supported by both SJA who offered us a discounted price and the BBA who covered the rest of the fee. Those finishing the program instructed by Steve Gunn were Donna Lombardi, Jasmine Outerbridge, Liza Outerbridge, Kim McMullen, Dee McMullen, John Narraway, Scott Williams, Steve Dean, and Mary Ellen Goodwin.
MORE ONLINE BERMUDA CYCLING CONTENT
For avid blog followeres or those who just love to read as much as possible about Bermuda cycling, there are two new offerings out there. Adam Harbutt has started a blog recounting his cycling adventures in Bermuda, starting with a Cup Match century ride with Dave Collins. You can learn all sorts of great things about our sport here, including how to get knuckle tatoos without that whole infection thing.
And Charlie Pearch, a BBA member in the UK and passionate wearer of the most expensive cycling gear imaginable and member of the Rapha Condor Club has contributed to the Rapha blog about his visit and rides in Bermuda in June. The link below will take you to the page with Charlie's contribution which was heavily edited by the site and cutting out all of his chats with Chelsea.
These two are completely unrelated but there is a common thread here. If you can find it you may just win one of these.
