CYCLING NEWS

BUTTERFIELD BERMUDA GRAND PRIX,

SUNDAY AFTERNOON IN HAMILTON!

With a bit of luck the schedule for Sunday, September 20th has been flipped so that the time trial will be in the morning (first rider off at 8:00)and the afternoon race will be in Hamilton.  This is the first time we have had the chance to race in town on a Sunday afternoon and should leave no excuses for family, friends and even strangers to watch the racing.  To fit in the time slot we have been given the Sunday afternoon course will be the same as used for the IBC Front Street race and was used for the Thursday evening race in the BGP for many years.  Full details on the event are found at www.bermudagrandprix.com. All riders wanting to participate must register online and you can click the link below to get the process underway.

Picture of the week

Our own Geri Mewett made the big time cycling news this week when he was part of an early break in the US 100K Classic.  Velonews carried an article naming him as one of the early escapees and you can read about it at http://velonews.com/article/97574.  Mewett (looking a bit frantic at the back of the group) and his group did not stay away but it was a great move that, according to GM, was a few legs short of success.

If you want to submit a picture or two for the next newsletter then please forward the image to newsletter@bermudabicycle.org.
