SCHOOLS CYCLING
I had a great flash back this week when I joined Fred Swan's Bermuda Institute mountain biking group on a damp Monday afternoon. After a torrential downpour soaked the central parishes the railway trail was a mixture of puddles and sandy spots. Now, usually we adults on bikes avoid puddles, knowing that they are mysteriously deep and only obligate us t spend extra time to clean the bike later. But when you are zipping along the trail with ten 12-13 year olds, puddles are adventures not to be missed. And being slightly competitive, it took no time for me to join the race to get to the next damp spot to see who could make the biggest splash. I held my own, remembering how much fun it was to be 12 and on a bike. Of course later in the day there was the extra cleaning but it was worth it. Laundry was another matter.
If you would like to join one of the school programs to assist the leaders then let us know. Maybe your employer would agree to the time away from your job as community service. |
