CYCLING NEWS TRUNK ISLAND SWIM Pam Froud has asked us to remind you that the annual Trunk Island Swim will take place on October 11th. You can get all the details and register at raceday.bm SATURDAY MORNING GROUP RIDE ALTERNATIVE Not everyone likes to get up for the 6:15AM group ride that leaves from "Johnny Barnes" roundabout each Saturday. Kym Burns and Steve Dean have an alternative that may be of interest. Departing at 7:30AM from the South Road roundabout on Trimmingham Hill, the ride is described as "a moderate ride to Dockyard, coffee at Miles in Town then a second loop to Swizzle Inn, time and energy permitting. Fair weather riders." Questions? Contact Kym at kymburns@logic.bm ELITE CCC TEAM SELECTION If you read the Royal Gazette or visit IslandStats frequently you will have seen the announcement of our team for the Elite CCC in Barbados this October. The team will be: Men - Geri Mewett (captain), Garth Thomson, Arthur Pitcher, Mark Hatherley and Chris Faria Women - Dee Thomson, Flora Duffy, Nicole Mitchell (alternate) If you want the full press release it can be found below. MOUNTAIN BIKING SEASON PREVIEW!!! Time to dust off your other bike with the fat tyres and get ready for the mountain biking season. Grant Goudge is leading the MTB season this year and it looks like a very busy one. Plans include 8 series races, 7 Tokio Youth Mountain Biking events, 1 team endurance event , 1 downhill and, of course, National Championship. All of this will be packed into 4 months. As of this date the schedule will look as follows: November 7 - Tokio event at Arboretum 4PM November 21 - Tokio event at Arboretum 4PM November 22 - Series race at Hog Bay 9AM November 29 - Series race at Ft. Scaur 9AM December 5 - Tokio event at Arboretum December 13 - Tokio event at Ferry Reach 1:30PM followed by series race 3PM December 20 - Series race at Admiralty Park 9AM December 28 - Downhill Lighthouse and social event 9AM January 9 - Tokio event at Arboretum 4PM January 10 - Series race at Ferry Reach 9AM January 17 - Tokio event at Ferry Reach 1:30PM followed by 4 Hour Team Endurance event and social 3PM January 24 - Series event at Morgan's Point (?) 9AM January 30 - Tokio event at Arboretum 4PM February 7 - Series race at Hog Bay 9AM February 21 - Series event at Morgan's Point (?) 9AM February 28 - National Championship at Ferry Reach 9AM Some date after that - Awards Fiesta |

RACING MATTERS FINAL ROAD RACE SERIES EVENT OCT 4 The final event in the road race points series is scheduled for October 4th and Race Directors Chelsea and Spike have determined that it will be a crit on the "Millington Course". This is a loop that starts on Southside Road before the Clearwater roundabout and goes up Pepper Hall Road and left onto Tommy Fox Road with a final left onto Southside Road. Start times and duration are as follows: Men B and Women B: 40 minutes starting at 8:00AM Junior A, B, C: 20 minutes starting at 8:50AM Men A and Women A: 60 minutes starting at 9:15AM If you are able to assit with this event and need to get all your volunteering responsibilities in before the road season ends then contact Mr. Goudge at ride@bicyceworks.bm LAST CHANCES FOR TIME TRIAL SERIES
As the season winds down we have the final chances for the Capital G Time Trial Series. The series placings are determined by your best time at each of the three courses (Shelly Bay, Harrington Sound and Bacardi). So if you have missed one, not happy with one of your times or haven't done a single TT the entire year, clear your October Sundays and strap on the aero bars. |
