CLUB PERSON OF THE YEAR AWARD

We are seeking input from members for the Club Person of the Year award. This award has been given to individuals as well as entities.  The 2008 award was given to Conyers, Dill & Pearman.  If you would like to suggest someone for this then please send an email to Nigel Godfrey at nigel@horseshoe.bm.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING DATE - DECEMBER 15

Just a little reminder that the AGM is scheduled for Tuesday, December 15th, starting at 5:30PM.  The meeting will be held at the offices of Horseshoe Management which is located on the 5th floor of the Emporium Building on Front St.  This is the same building occupied by Flannigan's.  All BBA members are entitled to attend.  We will be electing the board of directors and taking care of a few administrative matters.  Please attend if you are able.

TOKIO YOUTH MTB MOVES TO EAST END THIS WEEKEND

The Tokio Youth MTB Series continues this weekend on Sunday afternoon at Ferry Reach.  Saturday afternoon at 4:00PM at the Arboretum for primary school students.  Please come along and help.

THURSDAYS AT THE TRACK

Junior cyclists age 14-18 are invited to join the various school clubs at the north field of the National Sports Centre on Frog Lane on Thursday afternoons from 3:45 to 5:00.  There are some skills drills and short races that are designed to be fun.  The BBA has permission to use this paved track for senior school students and we would like to extend this to those who attend schools without  cycling program.  If you have any questions send them to president@bermudabicycle.org.

2010 - BBA NEEDS YOU

Following the AGM next week the Board will appoint an executive committee which is charged with running all the activities of the BBA.  While the current members of the executive (Jeff Amaral, Duncan Simons, Martin Bolton, Nigel Godfrey & Peter Dunne) have indicated that they are willing to continue in this capacity there is a desire to expand the number of committee members.  Usually there are individual responsibilities assigned members but members are also expected to attend the regular meetings (90 minutes at lunchtime every three or four weeks) as well as make the tough decisions.  If you think you would like to be more involved in the BBA then please contact Peter at president@bermudabicycle.org or 799-8614.  Many hands make light work.

RACING MATTERS

SECOND MTB RACE AT FERRY REACH THIS SUNDAY

The second race of the 2009/10 mountain biking season is this Sunday afternoon immediately following the Tokio Youth MTB event at Ferry Reach.  The race starts at 3:00 and the course looks fantastic.  The trails were cleared by the Parks Dept. with Tracey Wright making it all happen.  Thanks to Tracey and the Parks crew.  So come out and try the course.  Sleeping late is not an excuse this week!

BBA TO TOUR OF BATTENKILL

Chelsea's trip to this April 10th race in upstate New York already has 13 committed Bermuda participants and even Geri Mewett is threatening to bring his team from Knoxville up to the event.  Chelsea was abe to secure several spots in advance of the official registration opening in about two weeks.  If you think this is your kind of event then get in touch with Mr. Goudge at Bicycle Works and get your name on the list.

CYCLO-CROSS BERMUDA!!!!

You may have noticed that the calendar on the top of this page has changed this event from Possible to Likely.  This is a good thing and Adam Harbutt and his colleague Dave Collins are getting the details together for the 28th of December.  They even have a poster!  How cool is that?  Maybe not very, but they have a plan.

If you are not familiar with cyclo-cross races than do that Google thing or check out the YouTube for some great films.  Everyone needs to do this.  And did you notice what the prizes are?  Yup, suds (for those of an appropriate age).  No reason to be sitting on the couch that morning wondering why you feel like you have eaten an entire turkey, just grab a bike and head to Shelly Bay.

As a bonus, Dave and Zara are inviting everyone back to their home afterwards to help celebrate their anniversary.
