CYCLING NEWS

BUSY WEEKEND SCHEDULE

Maybe a few words on what is happening this weekend on the local cyclling scene.  On Saturday there is a gentle group ride leaving from the Flagpole on Front St. at 9:00 and heading to Dockyard.  Not a race, just a slow burn of the Christmas excess.  Sunday at 11 is the cyclo-cross race at Shelly Bay organized by Adam Harbutt and Dave Collins.  Everyone is invited to participate in this fun event.  And on Monday the previously scheduled MTB downhill has been changed to a group ride leaving Hamilton at 8:30 and going to the Zuill's Park area to ride the trails and get muddy.

MAUDUIT MOVES TO CERVELO TEST TEAM

Former Bermuda national coach Philippe Mauduit is now a Director Sportif for pro team Cervelo Test Team that includes cycling greats such as Carlos Sastre, Thor Hushovd and Roger Hammond.  The picture below is from the team's recent training camp in Tenerife, Canary Islands.  Philippe appears to be working on his map skills but it's nice to see that the boys are paying attention to their leader!
