CYCLING NEWS SCHOOLS MTB CHAMPIONSHIP SCHEDULED Following on the heals of the Tokio Youth Mountain Biking Series the BBA will put on the first ever primary and middle schools mountian biking championship on Sunday, March 7th. Working with the Bermuda Schools Sports Federation we are inviting all schools to participate in this race which will crown champion teams in the primary and middle school categories. All schools can enter riders and we will be promoting the event directly to the PE staff of the schools next week. Please give some thought to coming out to watch and support this new event. THURSDAY AFTERNOON AT THE TRACK
We have resumed our Thursday afternoon sessions at the paved oval around the north field of the National Sports Centre for senior school students and those participating in school cycling programs. The sessions start just before 4:00 and finish around 5:00. Entry is from Frog Lane. If you have any questions then contact president@bermudabicycle.org 2010 MEMBERSHIP 2010 Membership is now due. RACING MATTERS TOKIO FINALE DRAWS CROWD
The final event of the Tokio Youth Mountain Biking Series saw a great turnout at the Aboretum last Saturday. As in prior years there was a draw for a new bike from Bicycle Works and the lucky winner was Charlie Thorpe. The afternoon concluded with the much anticipated "Parents On Small Bikes Race" where there was the usual amount of crashing, unsportsman-like conduct and general good fun. Our thanks go to all of the Tokio staff and team members who helped make the series a success, specially Tats Hoshina, Tina Booth and Ed Jordan. Plus Bicycle Works for their support and leadership. Mountain biking continues this Sunday at Ft. Scaur for the 6th race of the Conrad's series. Racing starts at 9AM and several of the categories have very tight competition for final podium positions. Spectators and volunteers welcome! |
