CYCLING NEWS

STOLEN BIKE, REWARD OFFERED

Full Carbon Scott CR1 team (build 2007; color black, white and little red; 56cm frame) was stolen from our cellar during the period 25.2. – 10.3.  It has some unique features changed, which makes it easy to detect and has been reported with the police.  If anybody finds it or sees it, I would appreciate to be contacted. I am happy to pay 100USD to the finder, since I believe there is a good chance the thief will dump it, once realizing that it is hard to sell.
Thanks for any help you can provide

BBA IS LOOKING FOR ASSISTANCE, MAYBE YOU COULD HELP?

The BBA is seeking assistance in several areas relating to the administration of the sport.  Of course these are volunteer positions but the rewards for helping are too many to list!  We would like help with:

PR/Marketing - coordinating  PR efforts for BBA activities

Treasurer - need a qualified accountant for this role.

Secretary - not a lot to do - knowledge of Companies Act requirements and filing requirements for charities would be an advantage.

Road race results person - liaise with RDs and Bermuda Timing to issue race results, produce and publish series standings (IBC and RR) and produce team results - knowledge of Excel required.

Race Director - Bank of Bermuda Foundation Time Trial Championships

Please contact us at info@bermudabicycle.org to discuss this further if you think you could help us.

RACING MATTERS

SHELLY BAY TIME TRIAL ATTRACTS 93 COMPETITORS

The first time trial of the 2012 season brought almost 100 participants out to test themselves agains the 10 mile course.  Two riders had standout performances, with Alyssa Rowse setting a new course record in the girls 11/12 category and Dominique Mayho coming within 4 seconds of the open male record set by Tyler Butterfield in 2008.  Full results for the day are below.  Thanks to Gulf Stream Construction for supporting the costs of the chip timing services.

2012 MTB CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2012 MTB Championships will be held at Ferry Reach on Sunday, March 25 beginning at 9:00.  The entry form is available below and can be dropped off at Winners Edge not later than Friday, March 23rd.  As this is a championship race there are a limited number of categories; Male Open, Female Open, Junior Male, Junior Female.  Juniors are aged 18 and under as of 12/31/2012.  There will also be races for younger riders but they are not championship events.  Event t-shirts, designed by Nelson Pimentel of Signworx, will go to the first 60 registrants.

The course for the championship races will be the reverse version of the long Ferry Reach loop with a few changes.  Where you will come back to the railway trail after the fallen tree downhill, riders will turn right on the trail to a u-turn and then stay on the trail back to the grassy section that takes you to the cemetary.  Also, racers will go up to the Martello Tower and around it, not down the sandy back.  With any luck the course will be clearly marked by the MTB elves.  For the junior and adult female championship races one section of technical riding will be eliminated.

The schedule for the morning will be as follows:

9:00AM - Start of Male Open,Junior Male, Female Open, Junior Female Championship races

10:15AM - Start of Junior 13-16 and Junior 12 & Under races.
