TEAM SILVER IN BARBADOS
ELITE CARIBBEAN CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIP
A successful weekend in Barbados for Bermuda's elite squad resulted in a second place trophy in the team competition. Individual medals of gold (Dee Thomson, women's TT), silver (Flora Duffy, women's road race) and bronze (Garth Thomson, men's TT) put us ahead of Guadeloupe and just behind Puerto Rico at the end of the two days of competition. The entire team of Dee, Flora, Garth, Geri Mewett, Arthur Pitcher and Chris Faria performed exceptionally and came away from the weekend with enthusiasm for future competition. On top of this we all had the chance to meet UCI President Pat McQuaid and Jeff Amaral is now able to feed moving cyclists while BBM-ing.
Thanks to all those who helped the team prepare and make this trip a success, including Greg Hopkins, Graeme Miller, Elliot Hubbard, Kenneth Wainwright of American Airlines and many others who gave their support to the team in advance of the competition.
