Sinclair Packwood Memorial Race

One of the most prestigious races on the calendar is also the shortest. A fast and furious sprint from Somerset to Hamilton along the Heritage Day Derby route, the cycle race was first introduced in 1987 and has been a firm favourite ever since.

The Heritage Day race was renamed in honour of the late Sinclair Packwood in 1998.

This is an invitational race requiring pre-registration. Invitations will go first to those riding in senior A or B or junior B categories who have completed two series races this season - last opportunity is May 9!

Irving Sinclair Packwood
1962 - 1998

Sinclair Packwood was recognized as a top sprinter and was, for many years, one of our top riders, winning several events and representing Bermuda in multiples competitions abroad.

He also worked very hard for the BBA behind the scenes, serving

as a member of the

executive for a number

of years.  As such he

was one of the key

figures that convinced

the police and the

organizers of the

Heritage Day to allow

the BBA sponsored

event.

Our thanks to Mr. James “Jim” Butterfield for his continued sponsorship and support of this important race.
