Qualifying Volunteers
Races can only be run safely when there are sufficient course marshals and finish line personnel. The BBA is your club, and relies on its members to lend a hand in organizing a full slate of events for their benefit. ALL RIDERS are expected to contribute to the smooth running of the club, if they are expecting to enjoy the benefits.

All adult riders are expected to direct one race during the series.

As noted above, riders may earn up to 4 bonus points per race by providing volunteers at races.

Volunteering at the following races will count:

" Road race points series races
" Road Race National Championship
" Criterium National Championship
" Sinclair Packwood Memorial Race

The provision of volunteers may afford a rider an opportunity to earn bonus points towards his/her road race points series total.

Only qualifying volunteers will earn points for a rider. Qualifying volunteers must meet the following criteria:

Ÿ
Aged 16 or over (in the interests of safety, we cannot have young children controlling traffic).
Ÿ
Must have signed in with the Race Director on the Volunteer List submitted after the race by the Race Director, clearly indicating the rider to whom points should be credited
Ÿ
Must have volunteered for an entire race, unless specifically arranged with the Race Director to be relieved earlier.
Ÿ
Must have been assigned a task by the Race Director (the Race Director is under no obligation to use a volunteer if he/she already has sufficient manpower to safely cover the race - preference should generally be given to those volunteers who have offered their services in advance of race day,
Register as volunteer
In order to keep this as simple as possible please use the following guide lines:

Ÿ
Race Directors should be advised of volunteers in advance of the race so that they can properly plan the event. Last minute volunteers will be credited only if the race directors still have a need for additional volunteers.
Ÿ
Race organizers will send out emails ahead of time requesting volunteers - simply respond to those emails.
Ÿ
When a volunteer arrives they should sign in at the start / finish in order that the rider can be properly credited with bonus points.
